Thought leadership in Technology: BlackRock use case

In their transformation process from pure financial companies to hybrid technology & asset managers, investment firms are willing to increase awareness of their ‘new’ technology capabilities.

Technology & digital thought leadership is an emerging trend among asset managers particularly those who are engaged in a diversification of their business towards asset management technology services.

A thought leader is an individual or firm that is recognized as an authority in a specialized field and whose expertise is sought and often rewarded.

Indeed, as this B2B buying process is laced with complexities, influencers and multiple decisions-makers, the clients of this type of service (asset managers, institutional investors, distributors) need “proof” of providers’ expertise and successful used cases. As a consultant from Forrester Research said, “Business buyers don’t buy your product; they buy into your approach to solving their problems.”

The three main variations of thought leadership namely expertise, industry & organization also applies to technology
